Lois Eberhart from the Minneapolis Department of Surface Water and Sewers sent word on November 20th that the work on Flood Area Five is about to begin.
“The first step of the project will be upgrading the storm sewer pipes and related infrastructure in Dowling Avenue , between Oliver and Logan. Pavement removal in Dowling is expected to begin November 30, with Gopher State One Call utility markings and survey work taking place the week before. After Dowling we will move to Morgan Avenue in the half-block or so south of Dowling, then Newton Av., and then to the three alleys between Oliver and Logan Avenues.
I will try to provide more information on the approximate timeline for each street/alley as the project progresses.
When we are working in Dowling, we plan to keep it open to traffic in both directions. When we are working in the north-south streets and alleys, they will be closed to traffic southward of Dowling for one-half block, however only one will be closed at a time.”
We will update this site as new information becomes available. If you have questions, just call 612.521.2100.
